What does a soccer referee do?

Referee is the guy that calls the fouls and the out of bounce and everything that happens in the field. A referee presides over a game of association football. The referee has "full authority to enforce the Laws of the Game in connection with the match to which he has been appointed" (Law 5).What does a soccer referee do?

When was first international foot ball match played ,which was the two team?

The first international football match was played in 1872 between England and Scotland, although at this stage the sport was rarely played outside Great Britain. As football began to increase in popularity, it was held as a demonstration sport (with no medals awarded) at the 1900, 1904 and 1906 Summer Olympics before football became an official competition at the 1908 Summer Olympics. Organised by England's Football Association, the event was for amateur players only and was regarded suspiciously as a show rather than a competition. The England national amateur football team won the event in both 1908 and 1912.When was first international foot ball match played ,which was the two team?
The Scotland national football team have played international football longer than any other nation in the world along with England, whom they competed against in the world's first international football match at the West of Scotland Cricket Club, Partick, in 1872. • Should sports, such as football and basketball continue in college and high schools in the U.S.?

I am not questioning the value of competition and athletic studies. Both are valuable and should be continued. However high school sports has become the farm league for college football and college football is the farm league for the N-F-L. Most of the costs are born by taxpayers, alumni associations or booster clubs.

Should professional sports leagues finance these farm leagues and should they or should they not continue to be part of public and higher education?Should sports, such as football and basketball continue in college and high schools in the U.S.?
The problem is that we the public care so much about sports and in some cases put the fiat of your favorite team above much more important events in our lives or in the world. I coach at the high school level and I need to give my self reality checks very often. The reason colleges and the pros can do these things is because we the fans allow them to and force them to do whatever they can do to win. If they win they get money and to win you need a good coach and facilities which means you need to raise ticket prices to pay for all this stuff. Once you have it you better win or you will be fired so that person does everything they can to build a winner. This steam all the way down to youth leagues where parents are coaching a sport which should be about fun but are now all about winning. Sports need to stay in high schools and the coaches should be examples of education first athletics second. To often this is not the case. The fans also need to look at this and stop demanding perfection from their coach, their kids, and their teammates during games. We are the ones (the public) who have made it this way.
Are there issues that need to be addressed? Well, certainly. But the answer most definitely is not to get rid of them in high schools and colleges. Team work is taught first hand and individuals learn to work for a common goal. Tasks that will help them through the rest of their life.

Should sports, such as football and basketball continue in college and high schools in the U.S.?
Another way of coming at this question might be: "since it's not feasible to get rid of athletics in high schools and colleges, how can we better manage them so that sport, not business, is emphasized?" School sports are here to stay...for good or for ill. The challenge is to make them a force for good.
less that one tenth of one percent of high school football players go on to the NFL. probably less than one percent even go on to play in college. basketball and football teams in schools are by no means "farm league" for professional sports. they're passtimes and exercise for students, and they should be looked at that way.

you could make the argument that they should be cut because they cost too much and take away focus from the academic aspect of high school or college, but i don't think that's a legitimate reason to scrap them. teams can bring a school together, and i think more students enroll because of them.Should sports, such as football and basketball continue in college and high schools in the U.S.?
They should absolutely be continued. You should do some research on the subject. The NFL has many programs for youth football. At the high school level, parent take care of a lot of the cost, and at the college level, much money is made from high profile sports.
No - besides your point is wrong that tax payers or paying the bill in college for football and basketball that usually pay for themselves. If your point of view is purely economic then you would eliminate the women's sports programs - that will not sit well politically.

    Good Luck!!!
I remember once seeing the percentage of high school players who played in college even if they went to school many did not.

And the percentage of college graduates who finish carreers or even begin them in the NFL or NBA are suprisingly small. so why should the pro leagues have to pay for all the people who will never play for them.
well this is a very sore subject for me because I think we as a society put way more into sports than we do grades. Esc. here in Okalhoma. I mean there is something wrong when a kid can make a 60 in all classess and still play football. We need to make sports be a privledge and not a right. To many kids think they are going to make it on sports alone and never rely on grades. Parents put more into their kids doing well in football and basketball than they do in how their kids grades are. My son does not play any sport unless he makes all 70's and above. I think the money being thrown out their is way to much. Esc. when some dude is given 51 MILLION dollars just to get to talk to him... Tell me how that is even justifiable? I mena I think it is great fot the guy who got the 51 million, wish he would just give me 1 million of it. HAHA pocket change to him though. Someone pay me a million and I will talk to you.
Highschool definatly. Obesity. Thats that answer.

College is a little more difficuilt. Goign to PSU right now, it really sux to see your team lose while you pay for tickets knowing these guys are goign to school for free with B.S. majors.

At the same time, people want it. For example, P.S.U. is a football school so they put more money towards it. Other schools, the focus isn't on the football even though they have a team and less money is put towards it there.

Its also an oppertunity for some people without the financial resources that do have a talent in athletics to get a college education. Regardless of genes, top atheletes still need to work hard to get where they are and i don't see a problem with giving them an oppertunity. They definatly do have the drive to succeed in life.

All though i would love it if it went back to the days where only the rich went to school :-)

Is an acre approximately the size of a soccer (or a rugby) pitch?

er, thanks to those of yuo who answered my earlier question by reference to an American Football pitch, but being a brit (hence the username), I was in fact referring to Association Football (or "soccer")Is an acre approximately the size of a soccer (or a rugby) pitch?
    I didn't know this but:

A football pitch has to be between 100 yds and 130 yds long and between 50 yds and 100 yds wide so the smallest football pitch would be 100x50 = 5000 sq. yds and the largest 130x100 = 13000 sq. yds. An acre is 4840 sq. yds. Good for my maths and actually makes me sound quite intelligent!!Is an acre approximately the size of a soccer (or a rugby) pitch?
If you live in a modest suburb, it is typically 4 lots +/-.

    * in the USAIs an acre approximately the size of a soccer (or a rugby) pitch?
yes if you are a brit it is more or less the same. Well, as near as makes no difference.

GEOFFREY PECOVER and ANDREW OWENS v. ELECTRONIC ARTS INC.

U.S. District Court (N.D. Cal. - Oakland Div.)

    Case No. 08-cv-02820 CW

If You Purchased Certain Electronic Arts Brand Football Video Games

Between January 1, 2005 to the Present

You May Be a Class Member.

Membership as a class member in the Electronic Arts Litigation is the result of a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, Oakland Division (Case No. 08-cv-02820 CW).

What Is This Class Action About?

The class action lawsuit alleges violations of California's antitrust and consumer protection laws in connection with the sale of certain football video games. Plaintiffs, purchasers of Electronic Arts' football video games, claim that Defendant Electronic Arts entered into a series of exclusive licenses with the National Football League (NFL), National Football League Players' Association (NFLPA), National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), and Arena Football League (AFL), which Plaintiffs claim foreclosed competition in an alleged football video game market. Plaintiffs allege that this series of exclusive licenses caused customers who purchased certain football video games to be overcharged.

Defendant Electronic Arts has denied any liability and all allegations of misconduct. The Court has not decided whether the Defendants did anything wrong, and this Notice is not an expression of any opinion by the Court about the merits of any of the claims or defenses asserted by any party to this litigation.

    Who Are Class Members?

The Class includes all persons who, during the period January 1, 2005 to the present, purchased the Madden NFL, NCAA Football, or Arena Football League brand video games published by Electronic Arts with a release date of January 1, 2005 to the present. Excluded from the class are purchasers of software for mobile devices, persons purchasing directly from Electronic Arts, persons purchasing used copies oGot this email? What does it mean? If you read the reason for this lawsuit, the plaintiffs are clearly assholes who will not win anything. They are claiming that EA Sports overcharged for the games when they came out at the same price every other game comes standard, whether it be 59.99 (PS3/Xbox 360 Era) or 49.99 (PS2/Xbox Era). It is quite laughable if you ask me.Got this email? What does it mean? It's abot electronic arts football games.?
that's what I thought at first was it was a scam. BUT! If its not then hell with the Plaintiff, they are *********** to put it lightly. Freeloaders who want a dime from a frivolous lawsuit.Got this email? What does it mean? It's abot electronic arts football games.?
I received this email too. Basically, a couple of guys are suing EA because they feel that their exclusive licenses with the NFL, NFLPA, NCAA, and AFL have allowed EA to monopolize the football video game market. These guys are claiming that EA has taken advantage of the fact that they're the only company producing football games by jacking up the prices for Madden and other prominent titles. If this is the case, then EA is violating antitrust (i.e. fair competition) and consumer protection laws, according to the guys bringing up this lawsuit.

Who knows what will come of this. In any event, you and I don't really have to do anything; unless, that is, if you yourself want to sue EA. Then you have to exclude yourself as a "class member" from this lawsuit. All I know is that EA is getting sued left and right the past couple of years -- first the NFL, then the NCAA, now this. Unreal.
Checking around the web all I have gathered is that many, many people have received this email (myself included) and I suspect that if anything is to come of it, more information should be coming our way. However, if this is just cleverly disguised spam, then ignoring it seems the best route until further notice.

I have never used e-bay before, but I hear it's a great place to sell stuff. Do they charge a fee?

I have Football Cards from the 80's like Joe Theisman, all the Hogs, Herschel Walker, Don McPherson (Eagles QB) John Riggins, Issiac Holt (Dallas-CB), Deion Sanders (Atlanta Falcons-CB) Randall Cunningham (QB for the Eagles) In the "Topps' cards, all in Mint condition and just to name a few.

To sell on ebay, you do have to pay an insertion fee.Where do I get prices for old (80's)comic books/football cards ?
i would have to say that your cards are not worth too terribly much. pro set was a popular set in its day, but the cards themselves lack the value in today's market. the most expensive card in that set was worth $10.00, and it was an error card. and yes eBay charges a fee. my advice to you, charge more s/h than the actual price. eBay and paypal get a lot of your money. if you go to beckett.com, be prepared to become a member, and pay for it. have fun!
when i was young and collected cards we would use a magazine called beckett. they had all the values of cards from all sports and all brands in there. im sure they either have the magazine still or have something online. anyway hope it helps BECKETT

Are you looking forward to Christmas?

Even though I'm an athiest I'm looking forward to it. It's nothing to do with religion for my family either...we just do it because it's sort of a British tradition. I doubt 90% of British people actually celebrate it's official meaning.

Anyway...what faith are you? Will you be celebrating Christmas? Are you looking forward to it? Do you celebrate its official meaning? Why am I asking so many questions?

FQ: Was Arsene Wenger right to sue the Dutch football association for van Persie's injury? Are you looking forward to Christmas?
I'm Agnostic but I still love Christmas!

The whole festive feeling is just great. I love going out and seeing all the lights etc...Plus, now that it's snowing..it makes it even better. Hope it snows on x-mas day too!
Catholic, Yes I'll celebrate it, but I'm not home so it won't mean as much, No I'm not looking forward to it because of girl problems...mite be the worst christmas ever. I do celebrate it's original meaning and wonder if other do too. Don't mind ur many questions because they have merit

Well we'll see. If I were the dutch FA, I'd go to the extreme from now on and call RVP for either every single match and play him 90 minutes every game from now on. Or never call him again and let him thank Wenger for destroying his international career. Are you looking forward to Christmas?
I have beliefs in god but do not feel the need to put myself in a religion. I am looking forward to it for my daughter its not about me anymore mate. I got a few things to worry myself about over xmas so wont be so great for me.

fq i can see why managers get annoyed with it but the countrys need to play friendlys
love christmas... course i celebrate the official meaning, the giving and taking of presents! lol

i am agnostic and i like christmas for the family values and the get togethers that occurAre you looking forward to Christmas?
    agnostic,

    define "celebrating",

no because i only get one day off work (booooo!),

    never,

    maybe because you're nosy

    FQ petty, petty man
yeh lol i like christmas.bloody expensive though but worth it .

    im catholic christian

fq:could not give a toss about ars eholio wenger lol
yes i am looking forward to christmas. i have no faith :)
    no

I would be coming closer to my 16th birthday, no way
Yes, I am looking forward to Christmas this year. My Christmas present to myself is a prostate biopsy. That may sound harsh, but it is proactive health care and at my age (66) the height of taking care of yourself. I could go buy a bag of cookies, but being able to function well past 75 years old is far more important to me because that little five year old boy inside me will still be there when I am 106!

The football question is a bit beyond my scope, but if there were an injustice, a man does what he has to do to obtain justice in any given situation. Whatever balances the pans of the justice scales is what should be done.

What you might want to ask yourself is if he has any chance of prevailing in any upcoming lawsuit which may develop to try to serve his cause. A lot of people seem to forget that one. They sue blindly on principle. Lose money. Lots of it. You have to ask yourself if there is a prayer of winning your case, then proceed accordingly.

    Oh God, not this again.

For those of you who are really too dumb to use Wikipedia, here is a brief outline of WHY American football is so called and why it is NOT a misnomer.

The actual word football originally refers to the concept of playing a ball game "on foot", as opposed to horseback. (therefore, if you want to be really strict and pedantic, basketball is a type of football too!) In medieval Britain it was a catch-all term for many different games: some only allowed players to carry the ball in their hands, some only permitted kicking and others allowed either.

When the Football Association was founded in 1863 their first task was to agree on one single code of rules - up until then, the member clubs had their own rulebooks. Early draft rules actually allowed players to carry the ball, but in the end the majority of clubs decided on a kicking-only game (goalkeepers were introduced a few years later), which some members wouldn't accept so they resigned and joined the Football Association.

By that time various types of football had spread to the USA and was sort of in the same situation England had been in before the FA's formation: a bunch of different codes all loosely similar and all called football. The defining moment in the evolution of American football came in 1874 when the McGill University Rugby team went to Massachusetts to play Harvard, first at "Harvard Rules" then at Rugby. Immediately the Americans were intrigued by Rugby and it influenced their own games. At first though, the ensuing contests were extremely dangerous, with players regularly getting killed, which led to changes such as mandatory padding, as well as changes in the rules that took away rucks and introduced forward passing to create modern American football.
Correction: I meant to say "they resigned and formed the Rugby Football Union", not "joined the Football Association".

That's stupid. Really, that's like saying Rugby League should pay royalties to Rugby Union for being called rugby. You can't have copyright on a word, unless it is being used in the context of your product and/or it has a unique connection. E.g.: Nike can copyright Swoosh, but only if it's written in their font.
That's ridiculous and I'm not even an American.Northern americans (USA mainly) must pay royalties either to fifa or English FA for using the name football.?
i'd love to see FIFA try to charge us for calling soccer soccer. we'd kick their *ss and take THEIR money.

Has anyone been killed in soccer?

Has anyone ever been killed playing soccer (association football). Just curious as my friends were having an argument over the most dangerous sport.Has anyone been killed in soccer?
Some players have died on the pitch, but from the ones i know of it was down to health reasons or unexplained death.

Marc Vivian Foe died on the pitch playing for his country, there was a swiss player that died in similar circumstances aswell (at least i think he was swiss anyway).

Techically not on the pitch, but a whole team (amateur) were kidnapped in Colombia by drug barons and executed. Also after a poor display by the Colombian National team in a World Cup, after the players returned home in Colombia, some players were assassinated. So if playing football in Colombia, it can be very dangerous.

Rugby is probably the most dangerous major sport though, i've heard lots of storiesof players that have broken their necks in scrums. Even happens at youth level.

Apparently it's happened quite alot and people have paralyzed from playing Rugby and injuries are common.
Yeah, football can be dangerous and people have been killed. Some had heart problems, and i think a guy from cameroun swallowed his tongue a few years back, some people have also had serious injuries from collisons and crazy tackles, some of which turned out to be fatal, which is why they give straight reds for bad tackles as well as suspensions, to discourage people from making reckless tackles.Has anyone been killed in soccer?
alot of them have been off-the-pitch deaths from injuries sustained either during a match or at practice, but 71 players have died from soccer-related incidents/injuries since 1889, not including Antonio Puerta's murder after his 1994 World Cup own goal, or the Iraqi player who was shot dead on the pitch as he was about to score an equalizing goal. Since the wikipedia list doesn't include those two deaths on the list, then I'm sure there have been more than 73 footballing deaths in its history. It's a rough sport, even if some of us italians are drama queens when we get challenged for the ball :D GO ITALY!!!!

  • What North American city currently without a major league team will be the next to have such a team?

For purposes of this question, major leagues consist of Major League Baseball, National Football League, National Basketball Association, National Hockey League, and Major League Soccer. Also for purposes of this question, cities in a metropolitan area with a major league team do not count as they essentually have one already.

I know that this is generally speculation, but I am interested in is hearing opinions on what city or cities you would pick and why. Thanks in advance. What North American city currently without a major league team will be the next to have such a team?
    Las Vegas

There has always been a line between sports and gambling, but with the advent of the Internet, and Indian casinos, it is starting to break down. The argument that a city where gambling is legal could corrupt a professional sports team no longer is a strong, since you can place a sports bet from almost anywhere now. In fact, I think the NBA is planning to hold an All Star game in Vegas. It's the largest television market without a professional sports team, which means there is a lot of money to be made there. It will have a team within 10 years, possibly 5.
Sturgis, South Dakota. What North American city currently without a major league team will be the next to have such a team?
i definitely think that Las Vegas is going to be the next city to have a major league sports team.they certainly have the money to finance a team and would certainly bring in a lot of revenue as well as people to see this sporting event. honestly the whole gambling thing is kinda stupid and naive because people bet on sports regardless. i actually think that the New Orleans Saints or the Seattle Sonics have the best possibility to be the team to go to Vegas
Tulsa, OK....they will get a baseball team...What North American city currently without a major league team will be the next to have such a team?
Las Vegas one of the fastest growing cities without any major team...should get one..but that would eliminate any betting on that team that would be the only draw back..they would need a retractable roof because it is very hot during the summer months...the best bet ..sort to speak would be a NBA team within the next 5 years

Should Gibraltar be allowed to join UEFA and FIFA?

The Football Association of Gibraltar have just been rejected membership of UEFA after 45 member nations voted against the idea. That left 4 nations who were undecided and 3 who voted in favour (who interestingly were England, Scotland and Wales, which along with Northern Ireland make the United Kingdom, keep in mind Gibraltar itself is a British overseas territory).

Sure they may be a micro-nation with a population of only 27,921 people, but I believe that if they are a country, they have the rights to qualify for World Cup's and continental championships, regardless of size.

Also of note is that Gibraltar is only slightly smaller than San Marino, the current smallest nation in UEFA/FIFA.

What do you think?Should Gibraltar be allowed to join UEFA and FIFA?
Well, I don't have any objection to places like Gibralter wanting to put together a federation and compete----why would anybody object to that? As it is though----just like for San Marino---they would have little to no chance of ever winning a game. Why not put these smaller micro-nations into a federation of their own? There are a lot of small island-nations in the Caribbean and in the South Pacific who would fit in too. Just a thought.Should Gibraltar be allowed to join UEFA and FIFA?
I do not believe any small contry has the right to take part they should have to go through a qualifiying compition between them if we are honest most of the little countrys do not have a big enough Stadiums to host games against the big guns of international football which makes it unsafe for the big games to go ahead in the small nationsShould Gibraltar be allowed to join UEFA and FIFA?
what next the vatican forming their own football team? if they want to form a football team then fine but they should have to qualify for the world cup %26amp; euro championships qualifiers. they should go into a group along with san marino, faroe islands, andorra, luxembourg and armenia. these countries bring nothing to the table and should have to earn the right to participate in any qualifiers.
Yes but what is the point , we wouldn't get very far.

What's all this about Fifa and Blatter making the rules of football!?

FYI it is not FIFA or Blatter that makes the rules of football!

It is IFAB that has this authority!

8 members 4 are from FIFA and the other 4 are from England, Scotland, N.Ireland and Wales!

    The four oldest football associations.

It's a British game and the British still control it!

Good thing or bad thing? What's all this about Fifa and Blatter making the rules of football!?
the rules are good so i have nothing to say about this and the pk is from a german referee
    From reading this;

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football?/a>

It seems, at least as regards goal-line technology, it wasn't the British part of the equation that was against it. (p.s. It's from 2008)What's all this about Fifa and Blatter making the rules of football!?
I don't think FIFA and Blatter are referring to changing the rules of football ... they are referring to ways to help the officials correctly implement the rules that are (were) created by IFAB.
"British" game? And where's England? Did they make it into QF's?What's all this about Fifa and Blatter making the rules of football!?
Bad. I guess those British grandpas like the bitter taste of their own medicine.

Why are some countries not affiliated to fifa?

i wanted to know why some countries are not affiliated to fifa. its like the small countries that no one knows about such as tibet, wast papua, chagos islands, greenland, and sidinia.

i was looking at this website and it says the countries affiliated with fifa and the countries not affiliated, but it doesnt say why they arent affiliated.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_men's_national_association_football_teamsWhy are some countries not affiliated to fifa?
they don't have money to keep working a professional football team

or if they have it, they don't have enough population to choose talents and have an average level

also it could be that some of them belong to other countries, and are not completely independent

like for example Guadeloupe belongs to FranceWhy are some countries not affiliated to fifa?
It would be because some are actually colonised by or territories of other countries, and so are not "officially" independent nations.

The other reason would be they just don't have a national team. Hell, some might not have any kind of soccer competition, professional or social. It isn't that far-fetched ;).

What will the final straw be to show football needs video playback?

Regarding Messi's goal yesterday, could be the difference between Barca being knocked out and lifting the CL trophy....

I'm not complaining, I hope Arsenal do knock them out but if it happened to RM I would be livid....

We see these sorts of things constantly in football.....

What will make the football associations finally realise it's needed?

Or are you against it?What will the final straw be to show football needs video playback?
I don't understand how people really know so little about GLOBAL football, everything you said can a 15 years old kid say, it's no big philosophy that video technology would improve the quality of football and it's as simple as it can be to put it in practice... BUT... lets first explain how RULES work, the rules must be the same for everyone under UEFA or FIFA, now clubs with money wouldn't have any problems with video technology because they already have 20 or more cameras on their stadiums but as I said the rules must be the same for EVERYONE. Now lets look at Ukrainian league which is 8th best league in Europe (which means there are 45 leagues worse than them and only 7 better or equal as their), do you really think that a club like PFC Sevastopol with stadium capacity of 3,500 people can afford more than 20 high technology cameras??? Of course they can't and even if they could afford the cameras they wouldn't be able to maintain them, most of stadiums around the Europe have two or three cameras over the whole pitch. We have clubs in UEFA (more than you think) that can't pay a monthly wage of 1000 euros or even less to their players, so even if they want video technology it simply wouldn't be possible from financial point of wiew.

Video technology would work ONLY if UEFA decides to financially FULLY support this ''revolution'', which will never happen so unfortunately we will have to be victims of criminals, that own betting houses and are fixing most of the games today, in the future too.
The only Homo Sapienes still rejecting that idea are none other than the presidents of FIFA and UEFA, the almighty and honourable Blatter and Platini so it's all up to them.

I think the final straw will be like in a very prestigious and competitive match, maybe like CL final or World Cup final, and a player got so furious that when he was supposed to do a throw in, he just threw the ball to Blatter or Platini and it broke their nose AND (this is the key) the ref and his linesmen claimed that they didn't see it and the ref didn't put it in match report.
I guarantee a few hours after that, they'd get video playback as a deadly weapon against that player.

I wish that player would be Rory Delap with the Delapinator. It would break their skull!! But then... No way he'd play in CL final or WC final... Oh well......What will the final straw be to show football needs video playback?
Tell us your ideas of how it would be implemented. I think FIFA are up for it if someone can come up with a fair and consistent way of using it.

It works well in Rugby League and that is because in rugby you have definate start and stop points in a game every 5 - 10 seconds (the tackle) It is easy to go back to this point and say right, video ref, have a look and see if it's a try / he's offside etc.

In football there is far less stoppages so it is difficult to just stop the game every few seconds to go and have a look at the video.

I don't think it will come in for a very long time, if ever for this reason.
    Im for it.

Goal line technology should be brought into football, as it is, and has proved worthy in certain decisions, in other sports.

The few minutes per match that a referee would need to get an 'extra opinion' could be added on at the end of the game like stoppages do now. It wouldn't need to be used in every decision!

What will it take for this to be brought in? i honestly don't know, because there have been so many 'wrong calls' in recent years, from league games up to World Cup games, so i have no idea why it hasn't been implemented into the game yet ..... but i think it eventually will be.What will the final straw be to show football needs video playback?
Ermm...If the video replays did exist hen it would have been

    Chelsea 6 (Essien 9 ' ,Lampard Pen 27, Lampard Pen 30, Lampard Pen 64, Lampard Pen 78, Lampard Pen 90+3') ---- -Barcelona 1 (Iniesta 90+1')

    and

Fletcher wouldn't have been sent off

    with video replays

    2008-09 final Man.United 2 (Cristiano Ronaldo 57' ,Darren Fletcher 85') bt Chelsea 1 (Drogba 34)
    Against it.
As soon as it costs manutd a title... oh wait that wouldnt happen as the refs are already on the take.

  • Which Premier league should i root for?

I am an American Football (NFL) die hard San Diego Chargers fan for life. I am sort of beginning to watch some more association football (soccer) games and the EPL. Which team should i root for.

P.S. not a team that always wins. One of the underdog team that i can follow on my free time. Any advice?Which Premier league should i root for?
It doesn't matter, you live in America so you can never know what it's like to be a real football supporter. Just enjoy watching real football instead of gridiron.
    Which Premier League?

I would say the Swiss Superleague.

All joking aside, I would think that Liverpool and Arsenal are teams that you could easily follow that don't win a lot of trophiesWhich Premier league should i root for?
Manchester United, forget underdogs, there's nothing wrong in supporting the second best team in the world! ;D
Newcastle unitedWhich Premier league should i root for?
    Norwich
Team that doesnt win a lot? Take your pick from this list then...

Wigan, Wolves, West Brom, Blackburn, Chelsea.
Why don't you go for the newly promoted Norwich City?

    A good team.

How is the UK going to get a football team together for the 2012 Olympics?

The UK didn't enter a football team in the Beijing Olympics, just because Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England can't agree to put a team together, and they are all scared of loosing their "la di da" status with FIFA. Isn't soccer is our national sport? How can we possibly host the Olympic Games without a football team?

What wrong with the Rugby Union approach and having a British Lions team? It works OK for Rugby Football and doesn't take anything away from the Six Nations Championship.

Who can make our Football Associations see sense?

How is the UK going to get a football team together for the 2012 Olympics?
I doubt the UK will enter 1 team because I don't think N. Ireland, Scotland, and Wales want to share a team with England. At least that's what the people I know say, and it's not just about their "la di da" status (though they have a point since Blatter warned them about it). I think if they enter the tournament, they want to do it representing there own countries. Either way, there will almost definitely be a team representing the UK, but it may be just the English team with a different name since I think they are the only association to approve of the idea so far. But it's a long time until 2012 so they may change their minds if they see the public supporting the idea. How is the UK going to get a football team together for the 2012 Olympics?
I don't understand this question, England has the greatest football league in the world (Primer League) along with La Liga (Spain). Any player would dream at playing in Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, or Liverpool. N. Ireland, Scotland, and Wales do have football teams too they are just not too good. How is the UK going to get a football team together for the 2012 Olympics?
We dont need to enter every sport you know. Soccer isn't the national sport of Wales, it's rugby. British lions are an ok team because Wales, \Scotland and england also have their own team so they are not taking anything away. The soccer would unless you use player who don't play for the national teams.

Team GB Football at the 2012 Olympics?

It would appear that there is some sort of disagreement among the football associations in this country as to whether there could ever be a Team GB to play football at the Olympics.

As we a due to host the Games in 2012 shouldn't differences be put aside to allow our national sport to be represented when in our own country! At the very least a team of amateur players from across GB should be formed. There are many organisations and even individuals that could afford sponsor such an endeavour (maybe a highly paid professional footballer that plays for US team!).

Any Thoughts?Team GB Football at the 2012 Olympics?
I was always under the impression that Olympic footballers were amateurs anyway.

I agree with you and the FA should look to the non-league teams in England, Scotland, Wales and possibly Northern Ireland (although the latter have the option of competing for the Republic I believe).

We should have a team in 2012 at least.

This rule should also apply to the other teams and not have the likes of robinho and Kalou playing.

Team GB Football at the 2012 Olympics?
I would quite like to see a Team GB in London 2012, but not comprising of the 'superstar' players. I think it would be much more beneficial for the game to look at young players from the Championship and League One, with only a few players from the Premiership.

The Scottish/Welsh/Northern Irish FA's are not keen on the idea, because any sort of union could spark a joint British FA. This means that whenever any football decisions are made by Fifa, we would only get one vote rather than the four we get now.Team GB Football at the 2012 Olympics?
'Team GB' would be crap anyway, look at England.

England didn't even qualify for euro, all this talk about the players, loving up rooney, where doesn ti get you? NOWHERE.

The team doesn't work, the players are over-rated.

    And I live in London.
I think it would be OK, they are talking about getting Fergie to be manager.

Who do the French consider their best player ?

There has been a lot of accusation of Italian/French bias etc in this forum lately so I want to throw an unbiased opinion into the mix for discussion.

During the UEFA Jubilee Awards each UEFA country's football association picked "one of its own players as the single most outstanding player of the past 50 years (1954-2003)"

The Italians picked Dino Zoff (my favourite).

Who did the French pick ?? And do you agree with them ?

No peeking/no googling and no wikipedia checks !!!!!!!Who do the French consider their best player ?
I hav read about it somewhere. Its not Zizou or Platini. Its a guy called Just Fountain (sry about the spelling, dunno properly).I hav never seen him play but i hav read that he was a top goal scorer at a wc.So i cant say whether i agree with them or not.But for me as a French fan, Zizou will always be the best.
They picked Zidane. I remember the poll.

PS. Clearly your not French 'messirocks'Who do the French consider their best player ?
    Michel Platini.
Zidane I think!Who do the French consider their best player ?
    Mexes.
We picked Just Fontaine. And of course I agree with our choice!!
i didnt no about those awards to be honest!i would say prob platini won it!him r zidane!zidane would be my favourite as i grew up watching zidane while i only saw highlights of platini
Well,I don't know.Maybe Michel Platini or Eric Cantona or Didier Deschamps or Just Fontaine or Zinedine Zidane.
    best ever its platini
    zizou even though he retired!
Well the French picked ''Paris Hilton" lol

And yes I do agree with u 100%

probily someone they drafted in from africa
    it should be ZIDANE!!
It has to be Michel Platini .

I'll pick Zizou. And of course I agree with myself.

Live NFL Chat 8:00 PM-- Interested in in-depth football talk?

Most of you do not know me so I will take this time to introduce myself.

My name is Andrew Abouzeid and I am currently a student at Virginia Tech. Ever since I was a boy it has been my ambition to be involved in the NFL in some way. Initially, I wanted to take the coaching path. However, more recently I have decided that a General Manager role more suits what I want to do and more importantly what I am good at. Regardless, every free moment for almost the past decade I have been using to learn everything possible about the NFL, the players, and more importantly the schemes. I have read all of the AFCA (American Football Coaching Association)coaching books, from offensive strategies to defensive strategies to general coaching. I have studied extensively almost every offensive and defensive scheme that is currently in place not only in the NFL but also throughout the NCAA as well. I have copies of dozens of playbooks that have been used in the past in the NFL of which I have broken down not only by reading, but also by watching actual film of these schemes in operation.

For the past couple years I have been taping several football games per week (both college and professional) and with that have been doing three different things. The first is running an extensive player evaluation, how each player performed in their given offensive or defensive system. For instance, if I were evaluating Vince Wilfork, how well did he manage to occupy his 2 gaps? Was he holding the line freeing his linebackers, or was he overpenetrating? How many times did a linebacker fill his bubble 3 yards down the field when it was Vince's responsibiliy to close it at the line? After completing my player evaluation I move on to grading the playcalling on both sides of the ball. Were the coordinators successfully exploiting weaknesses of the opponent? If offensively they had a speed mismatch, did they properly use crossing patterns to give their receivers an opportunity to utilize their speed? Defensively did they take a "bend but don't break" approach or were they aggressive? Were they successful? Why or why not? Lastly, after evaluating both sides of the ball for both teams, I devise a gameplan as if I were going to play against those teams the following week. What players am I using to gameplan with? For college games I use the Virginia Tech players, and for the NFL I use the Miami Dolphins roster. The gameplans usually are several pages in length, and the first approach I take to them is, I ask myself if I were the opposing team how would I use their players to exploit the weaknesses on my team? From there I develop a counter to those predicted exploitations and then devise a plan to attack not only player weaknesses, but scheme weaknesses as well. This is usually a week long process, in a given week I probably spend between 30-40 hours on film study alone.

Now, how does this involve you? I have decided while I am still in school to run a weekly online chat session for those wishing to learn more about the schemes and personnel in today's NFL. I haven't checked but I bet Man U fielded its boot cleaners- Fergie has no respect for the Carling Cup?

He even had the gall to pull his team out of the World's most celebrated competition The Football Association Cup. The man's a football Philistine.

And the FA let him back in the following year! Cheech.I haven't checked but I bet Man U fielded its boot cleaners- Fergie has no respect for the Carling Cup?
And that's why Fergie won the carling cup for the last 2 years....riiiiggghhhhttt....I haven't checked but I bet Man U fielded its boot cleaners- Fergie has no respect for the Carling Cup?
No Man Utd had quite a decent team out, one that is usually successful, so take nothing away from west ham's performance. Man utd were just poor throughout the game, couldnt create a proper scoring opportunity. On paper Man Utd team was still stronger than West Ham's, with the like of chicharito, fletcher, anderson, giggs, o shea, and evans.I haven't checked but I bet Man U fielded its boot cleaners- Fergie has no respect for the Carling Cup?
Actually he played quite a few first team players with some reserve team, they were absolute crap, west ham were all over them like a rash, god knows how they scored 7 against blackburn maybe that proves just how shite blackburn are lol, LFC 4 EVA :-P

Why do so many people refer to the German national team as 'over-achievers'?

They are a very large and developed nation, with a rich history of association football. Surely the term 'over-achievers' should be reserved for the likes of the lowly populated Uruguay (World Cup Winners, 1930 and 1950) and Denmark (European Champions 1992, and have never failed at the group stage of the World Cup). Why do so many people refer to the German national team as 'over-achievers'?
Probably because they think the team is trying to hard isn't that what over achieving is? I honestly could care less....
They always do well. Germany is probably going to win at South Africa too.

Go GERMANY!Why do so many people refer to the German national team as 'over-achievers'?
They are over achievers because robots that play without style or passion shouldn't ever be winners but the Germans always contradict these virtues and end up making it to the later stages of the world cup.

Germany reminds me of the computer that defeated chess champion Gary Kasparov - technically perfect but souless - I hope they get destroyed in South Africa...
the ' so many people' you refer to are largely english. and there is a lot of sour grapes there. germany has won much more than england and the english simply dont like it . lets be honest about it. then you have 'the war' etc, and that adds to the hatred and jealousy also.many english like to lecture other countries about intolerance and bigotry when they themselves are guilty of a lot of it as well. one has just to listen to jeff stelling on sky every saturday, where you have match reports by various ex-football stars. when someone scores who have a 'foreign name' they laugh at it . it simply shows there ignorance and racisim. Why do so many people refer to the German national team as 'over-achievers'?
Because under achievement is par for everyone else s course.

German engineering is some of the best in the world.

Ok, so the football isnt exactly "the beautiful game" but they play to their strengths and are well

organised and work hard. Something many many people could take lessons from, including

    myself !
They practice beforehand, dammit! That's not fair.

There is no such thing as an 'over-achiever' in sport. Winners are winners, simple!

Maybe Germany are referred to as over-achievers by some, because they have never actually been the best team at any World Cup technically, in terms of general skill, (e.g. in the 1974 World Cup, Holland had the best team, and in 1990, Cameroon had the best team) Also, Germany have a reputation for cold, calculating and dull football. Personally I think that this reputation is out-dated and wrong, I like the German national team, especially now, I think they are lot like our English national team used to be, except instead of falling at the final hurdle, the Germans used to get over it in the end, but not so much recently. (They have been in 3 finals, and one semi-final in the past decade alone, and have nothing to show for it). If anything, they are under-achievers!
I believe your misinterpreting the term. I agree with it, but it only refers to their results in the last decade, which are surprisingly good for the poor football they have shown. Today most of their players are just a bunch of talentless-disciplined-hard working athletes. They used to have top class midfielders, with amazing and rich technique, dominating the strongest leagues in Europe. They used to have strikers that could actually dribble the ball, and trick opponents. Even defenders like Beckenbauer were incredibly good with the ball. I got to watch their national teams on the early 90's when I was a kid, and they were a pleasure to watch. I've heard their 70's and 80's teams were even better. Their playmaking was fast, aggresive, and smart. Bottom line is: They used to be WAY better but they've managed to keep getting great results on the last decade despite their crappy squads.

And I must strongly disagree with your definition of over achieving. I mean, Uruguay deserved to win in 1950 (what does their population have to do with it?) . Denmark deserved to win that Euro cup. Uruguay is not a powerhouse anymore, and Denmark doesn't have Schmeichel or Laudrup, but that doesn't mean they're over achievers. They won what they deserved, and now that's in the past. Now they're not strong, and everybody acknowledges that. Why do so many people refer to the German national team as 'over-achievers'?
    they're just jelous. bottom line.

i've never heard of that term before 'over-achievers'.

sure, in cup competitions you can only beat the team put out infront of you. They seem to have a lot of luck in international football, but take nothing away from the legendary German teams of the past.

In their hey day they were one of the best teams on the planet.

" The Dutch are braver and more creative players, but less disciplined. They want to let the opponent see and feel that they're better, but they forget to score and settle the game. - Franz Beckenbauer quote
Maybe it's because they've won the World Cup three times, been runners-up four times, hold three bronzes, have three European Championships and have been runners-up another three times for that particular championship. Sixteen medals of any kind in these two championships alone... Sounds like a whole lot of national achievements to me, don't you think? Why do so many people refer to the German national team as 'over-achievers'?
    Germany are the over-achievers

Spain and England are the under-achievers

Anyway, im off to go play in the snow. Have fun
I think its because they have won 3 world cups, and they have never come into one as favorites. Plus they got 2nd place a lot of times.
due to their great football history

How do I become a football referee?

To become an American football referee, most people start out at the youth and high school levels. You simply need to find a high school association in your area. Doing a Google search usually works pretty well. For example, Google "football officials association san gabriel" or whatever location you are in.

There is a dire need of refs all across the country in all sports. It is a lot of fun to actually be out there and part of the game rather than just in the stands or on the sofa watching the game.

You do make some money, but you won't get rich doing it. In Southern California, high school officials make about $60-$70 per game, and youth officials make $50-$60.

If you would like more information on how to be a "ref", go to www.sgvfoa.com/be-a-ref.htm or send an email to BeARef@sgvfoa.com.How do I become a football referee?

Apparently he met a few days ago with someone in charge of the Ecuador Football Association. He claimed a few weeks ago that he had 3 offers and looks uninterested in the Cruz Azul games. Is he on his way out? Who can replace him. Profe Galindo??Cruz Azul coach Sergio Markarian might leave to coach Ecuador, is it bad for Cruz Azul?

If Markarian leaves...we all know that El Profe will take over and be the head coach! The fans wanted him since day one and they always questioned why they never got him and instead got Markarian! Do u think it's okay to play limited-contact sports with gay people?

I wanna come out and i am playing sport with straight people. I wanna know what straight people may react. I don't want to but i consider quiting the team if people don't feel comfortable with it. So...do u feel comfortable playing limited-contact sports(wiki: Examples include baseball, basketball, association football, field hockey, netball, squash, running and ultimate frisbee.) with gay people?Do u think it's okay to play limited-contact sports with gay people?
I'm bisexual and a girl... few of my friends know I am. They are also on my soccer team out and inside of school. They have no problem with it... in fact they hug me like they always did if we won a championship or something. I also play basketball(some contact) and volleyball(SHORT short shorts... LOL).

Really... like HONESTLY. Its fine. Its not like I'm going to get turned on by touching them...

Example: *jump and i get bumped into some one* Me: OMG... i love you.. KISS ME.

I know I know... over dramatic... but seriously. Not going to happen. LOL. Especially when they all sweaty and gross. Ew. (: .... and to be honest... the other basketball teams around my city... they all fugly. :)

But in all seriousness... its fine. :DDo u think it's okay to play limited-contact sports with gay people?
Well, I find it absurd people have to be "in the closet" but there are homophobes in sports.

Your sexual orientation does not effect your sportsman ability.
If your in high school, just enjoy the sport and don't worry about it because people will suck and make a big stink. Enjoy high school.
You wont speak to most people when your done with HS anyway.
But this isn't to say you cant tell some team members.
I hate giving advice that sounds like this. :(Do u think it's okay to play limited-contact sports with gay people?
i feel that wether gay or not i treat them all the same unless the person gives me reason to do other wise so yes i would play any sport with any kinda person tackles involved or not
I'm gay and I sayy yess lol

but I don't thnk you were wanting my answer were u lol

Should football clubs pay more for police protection?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7553875.st?/a>

'Football clubs should pay all the costs of policing games, says the Association of Chief Police Officers.

Clubs currently have to pay back only the costs incurred inside their ground or on their property, with the rest coming from police budgets'Should football clubs pay more for police protection?
Obviously the policing of football games has significant implications on finances and currently clubs pay only for the policing inside the ground. I would suggest that the serious policing of footbll prominants happens outside the ground. Tax payers are therefore paying for the policing of football matches.

Certainly in the Premiership where players are earning in a week what most of us earn in 3-4 years, then I would suggest that more is done to ease the costs for the taxpayer. Likewise the FA also earn a fortune from the sport.

So in answer to your question I think more should be done.
The football clubs make millions (if not billions of pounds in the case of the top 3 Premier league clubs) of pounds per year and reap the financial benefits of match days (season and daily ticket sales, food, souvenir sales, concessions and sponsorship). At a time when public funding is tight, should they be expecting the taxpayer to be subsidising police attendance on their match days? Should the local police force have to cut back on budgets for everyday policing to pay for officers and vehicles to attend football matches? I think not.

The football clubs should have to pay for all police attendance inside and outside the grounds resulting from their football match. The police clearly have to put officers outside the ground as well as inside. We've all heard of or seen on TV 'punch ups' and traffic chaos outside the football ground on match days which the police and other emergency services have to deal with.Should football clubs pay more for police protection?
They should pay the whole cost of policing games. It's not just the clubs that need the protection, it's the innocent bystanders that need the protection from the behaviour of the few drunken yobs that think the game is not on the field but in the adjacent streets.

Don't use the excuse that some clubs can't afford police protection, that lets them all off the hook. perhaps the richer clubs should pay a levy so that all clubs can afford police protection. After all they pay obscene amounts to some of their players. What happens in other countries regarding policing of games.
Officers don't get to choose if they police a match.

Premiership footballers are paid disgusting amounts of money some of that money can go towards policing outside the ground.

Police have to get the fans in %26amp; out of the ground. Then break up the fights before %26amp; after.

No doubt some gormless fans will argue that they have a god given right to get to %26amp; from the match as well as getiing legless %26amp; beating others to a pulp.

Smaller clubs should be assited by the FAShould football clubs pay more for police protection?
Of course they should. In an ideal world, they wouldn't be there anyway, so if their services are needed every week, why should we pay for it when the football clubs are earning billions? I thought that is what they paid stewards for, so why shouldn't they pay for police/ambulance time?

Of course it is easy for me to say that when the gate of your team rarely hits 1000, but still, it's not fair for other people to pay for the rich teams policing.
Half the cops are just there to watch the match same as me and you

We should Bill the Association of Chief Police Officers for their ticket money. Let the Clubs pay for private security inside the grounds and watch the police scream like stuck pigs cos they cannot get free entry
This would put smaller clubs completely bankrupt. Already Gretna FC in Scotland is no more and Bournemouth has a 30 point penalty for being skint. The only clubs that would be able to afford it would be the Manchester Uniteds and the Chelseas.

Of course they should, they are happy enough to take the ticket money so they should pay for everything the match that they arranged causes.
Yes I think they should. Why should the tax payer have to pay the costs
    Yes!
    nah

Football(soccer) players violence and FA - FootBall Associations corruption: technology whistle campaign (1/2)?

Do you believe that the refereeing mistakes in the World Cup games are human lack of reflex or there can be a bunker of brokers selling previous games results ?

An average World Cup game has 2 to 6 fouls inside the area and 30 outside but the referees criteria keep the right to whistle a penalty, a card or nothing. There are several abstract ways for a referee to control the psico of the game and to influence its result.

I am from Brazil, the violence and corruption champion country. Our country hosted the 1st World Cup after the II W.War, 15 Cups ago. It was a time that Brazil had no favelas. We lost that championship but some of our politicians won intimacy with the international authorities of football and they learnt the great tool that fantasy shows can be to manipulate millions of people proud. It was when the Brazilian Bossa Nova of social cooperation started to be induced by social hypnosis. Politicians started to increase investments in stadiums and decreased investments in science, culture and entrepreneurship.

Today, it is common to listen to accusations and taped proofs of the Brazilian football refereeing national commission selling results to team managers previous to games. Now let me ask ... are there football mafias in your country too ? Keep opened eyes in the consequences of virtual social lies in people's life ...

In the 1962 Cup, Brazil won robbed against Spain and had the cancellation of Garrincha's red card in the final ... in 1966 the English refereeing conspiracy was a mark, specially against Argentina ... 16 years later Argentina and England declared the Falkland war. In 1970, the Brazilian forwarder Pele made an intentional clear aggressive poke against an Uruguayan opponent in the semi-final and was not expelled by the referee ... that game was a primitive violence show and no

refereeing punishments happened in front of millions TV viewers ... coincidently after 1970 and the violent 1966 Cup games the peacefull Brazilians started to become a violent society.

In 1970 Brazil became 3 times world champion and our politicians entered for FIFA's management. They were kept there for more than 20 years and it increased the global fantasy at over 1.000%. Today Brazil is 5 times world champion and the national public budgets are much more deviated ... now we have 50,000 KILLINGS PER YEAR (more than Irak, Israel and Colombia together), we have 30,000 car accident deaths/year, millions of prostitutes and a long list of crime gangs, foreign and domestic corruption.

How many corrupted leaders are linked to football ? How many would pay refereeing bribes ? What can the influence of referreing commissions be over society ? How many referees would accept a lot of dirty money ? Did an investigation over referees and commissioners properties ever happened ? Can't Civil Prosecutors authorities demand TOTAL TECHNOLOGY REFEREEING for football ?

How many referees reject an ?100,000 bribe ? How about ?10,000,000 per Cup game result ? ... Do you know how much is FIFA's official profit every 4 years (1466 days) ? It is a value similar to only 10 days the revenue of 15 Brazilian banks from our govern ... the excessive bankers receipt here are considered corruption by several economists (20% national budget deviation) and many of the banks are direct or indirect sponsors of football. Brazilian people have small salaries but our banks and their partner corrupted politicians have MUCH MORE money than football referees and commissioners. Recently some of our banks have been accused of paying monthly fees (mensalao) to hundreds of politicians and when the charges became heavy our press started to use an old scape method ... to occupy the news with other subjects. Guess which was the best subject ? They love football noise to bring economic truth silence.

A corruption champion country has a great stock of robbed money to use in potential football bribes ... corrupts do not invest in scientific creations, in regional art or social life, they prefer to deviate part of the money to buy artificial happiness for millions of humble voters ... and our press pretends not to see the devil behind their money, it accepts the job of selling a travested truth and help transforming beautifull people into cheap labor ... the little elite is the balls sucker of the financial pseudo-elite and they both are envy of the humble people's charm.

(continuation of previous similar question - txt 1/2)

In the 2010 Cup, Holand, the heir of the pirates recovered the strippers provocation and abandoned the elegance from Cruijff times. Also the germans used their corrupted elbows and got access to the new strange ball before the other teams. Germany had already won robbed against Holland in 1974 when the Dutch player Cruijff was massacred in the 1st half of the final game without the referee show any yellow or red card !!! Cruijff was a ballet elegance player coordinating his team with smart human moves ... When the interval came Cruijff showed a simbolic card to the referee and after the game he decided to abandon the next World Cup due no FairPlay ! The social play was forgotten and the hard body lessons influenced the planet badly.

Every new football cup brings a new Middle Age Violence Show in the green fields and the population of the world is getting bad examples to follow ... the european people has no more the moral and elegance of before, when we see humanity getting hipocrit shall not we ask if we will close eyes or if we will use the good humanity creations (technology) to help global benevolence ?

Will International Justice keep quiet over FIFA's unfair refereeing and violence stimulation for Humanity ? Isn't it a case for the Inteligent Side of the Press start a campaign for intervention to investigate the possibility of corruption and to audit management practicces in football ? Will we keep letting football secrets to multiply global aggressiveness ? Will we keep quiet over the hypocrisy getting more inside our houses through TV everyday ? Will football players keep defending their millions with no dignity or will someone follow the example of Johann Cruijff for cooperation and solidarity ? We invite the transparency institutions to arrange lowder divulgations against this subtle evil.

The 2010 cup brought about 30 fouls per game, several aggressive ones and many not whistled ... what will football social subcosncious influence be in the future european protests against corruption and banking speculation blames ? How many fire incitation over greek banks or people shocks against police will football anger help to create ? What can the 45% unemployed Spanish youth do ? Who will face the Hooligans and the Brazilian turbo-crime ?

In the year 2010 the governs of USA and Europe did a great job to reduce corruption in its finnancial systems, ruling banks and creating control against wild economic instinct ? Who will rule football against wild practices ? What is your country feeling ? Is football a real peace tool for humanity ? Where was the dignity of the German goalkeeper in the robbed goal from England ? Will a Brazilian forwarder tell the truth to the referee after a robbed goal against Ivory Coast ? Real heroes are good souls and would tell the referee of mistakes against the own shirt. Heaven attitude is infinite compared to one game play. A rat player would never win a Peace Nobel Prize. How many Cruijffs are there ? Any elegant heroe against the animal instinct of winning at any price ? How about the smaller countries ? Won't the always injusticed ones organize a movement for the TOTAL Technology refereeing at FIFA ? Will it be voted by all federations or decided on closed doors ? Who is against the football evil brokers possibility ? Can't we be proactive for a better world ? Or we will keep the low corruption countries never winning ? Where is the art of enjoying ? Where are the critics and positive actions ?

Recently a TV reporter asked an ace Brazilian football player ... "Did you tremble before kicking that penalty in the World Cup game ?" "Me ? Look at me, my friend ! Do you know where I come from ? In my favela top guys are used to face police or gangsters without trembling !"

The next 2014 World Cup will be played in Brazil. The biggest Brazilian city is threatened of not hosting the games for lack of R$ to invest in a stadium reform. The Brazilian Press hipnotize with longs repetitive monologues without touching the cause of the problem. The R$ necessary for the stadium reform is only 2 days the banks receipt over interest from govern ... the unfair Brazilian economic system deviates Billions to banks and politicians with very little for real entrepreneurs and good projects but our press will spend hundreds of days discussing it to sell deviated gossips. They are afraid of the Brazilian truth and prefer to let a few bankers to divide one national lottery prize PER HOUR keeping the mediocre investments in the economy and in people's entrepreneurship ... if the banks become owners of the stadiums they invest, if not there will be no nice World Cup. The press demands exagerated football results to bring pride and not dignity to people, they help to empty good people's soul and try to replace it with fantasy ... the pseudo-elitFootball(soccer) players violence and FA - FootBall Associations corruption: technology whistle campaign (1/2)?

if you take into account the following sports

    association football(soccer)

    rugby(league and union)

    cricket

    tennis

    athletics

    etc

also take into account the olympic games and sports that are not universally played by every country ie (american football, aussie rules football, ice hockey etc)

taking everything into account who would you say was the world biggest/best sporting nation and whyWho would you say was the best all round sporting nation in the world?
Well historically you would have to say the German Democratic Republic -- no one else has ever come close to their ratio of Olympic medals to population. Not that I necessarily approve of the methods they used to achieve this.

But realistically -- your question is impossible to answer. The selection of sports can't help but be biased -- nothing is popular everywhere. Even association football only ranks as fifth or sixth in North America. And why cricket instead of baseball (?) -- baseball is universally popular throughout the Western Hemisphere.Who would you say was the best all round sporting nation in the world?
It's American Football for me. Just visit www.yanksguide.com and then you'd get how it is important.

Can you divide this long sentence into a few simple sentences that are easier to understand?

The football association had ruled out an investigation after being satisfied safety checks had been carried out prior to the game. Can you divide this long sentence into a few simple sentences that are easier to understand?
umm... you could keep it in one sentence but switch the structure around abit?

    for example:

After being satisfied that safety checks had been carried out prior to the game, the football association rules out an investigation.

or a similar one which would be:

The football association was satisfied that safety checks had been carried out prior to the game, so they ruled out an investigation.

    help at all?

    :)
1 sentence; Satisfied by the safety checks that had been carried out earlier, the football association ruled out an investigation. 2 sentences; The football association was satisfied and had ruled out an investigation. Safety chacks had been carried out prior to the came. Can you divide this long sentence into a few simple sentences that are easier to understand?
An investigation was unncessary after the football team carried out safety checks before the game

Or, An investigation was carried out before the game. The football team were happy with the safety checks/conclusion
The football group chose not to do an investigation, after being happy that safety checks were done before the game. Can you divide this long sentence into a few simple sentences that are easier to understand?
The football association was satisfied that safety checks had been carried out prior to the game. An investigation has therefore been ruled out.
The football group had made a study. They did that after they were happy

with all the safety checks done before the game.

You could do something like this.
After safety checks were carried out the football association ruled out an investigation.

Most of my English friends immediately think of Ireland, Boston or "Helicopter Sunday" when they hear the word 'Celtic'...... (not always in that order mind you!).English football fans what is the first word or sentence that you associate with Glasgow Rangers?
    I immediately think, scottish league

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAHHHHAAAHHHAAAHHHAHAHAH

Might as well play in the Belgian or Swiss league
    Scotish is the first word

Ally Mcoist is the first image

Football is what features in my assosiation !!
    Rough
At first, yes. But you say "old firm", and it's the same. Though when I think about it I know it's not as simple as that.
Gattuso and Gazza come to mind first for some reason.
    better than celtic!

I run a women's association that has few members and would like to focus on sport to try and get more members this year.Is there a women's football world cup? If so when and where will it be held this year?

I don't know I just want to find out what other people said. But there is one.Is there a women's football world cup? If so when and where will it be held this year?
it's going to be over in china this time.
    Yes.

Women's World Cup is always the year after the men's. Next one is 2007.

History and basic information at link, below.

And, hey ... unlike the men's team, the USA-women's team have won ... and more than once!
2007 in China (they were supposed to have the 2003 WWC but the SARS epidemic forced FIFA to move it to the USA)

GO USA WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM!! They won 2 out of the 4 (other two are 3rd places finishes) and have 2 of the 3 olympic golds (the other is a silver)
There is a women's world cup. It's now the 5th time being held in China.
yes there is - the best teams are USA (number 1), brazil, Germany, Italy and china is up and coming - Norway and sweden are good too.

Obviously its not as big as the mens comp - or you might actually have heard of it!
who cares, really i mean with all due respect to female sports, i think that football is too violent for ladies so leagues where women get all smashed and broken will never be supported as much as the men's. Beside, men are biologically more capable in physical matters in comparison to women.

Why does NCAA DIvision II and DIvision III Football not get as much attention as Division I Football?

Every Saturday, there are lots and lots of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Football Games Played. These games from NCAA Division I, Division II, and Division III Football and you have teams such as Auburn University (Division I), Grand Valley State University (Division II) and Mount Union College (Division III) play games every Saturday and yet, when it comes to national media attention from networks such as ESPN, FOX SPORTS, and CBS SPORTS, NCAA Division I Football gets so much media attention. When it comes to reporting NCAA Football Scores on television, Division I scores are recorded and mentioned while Division II and Division III scores are not mentioned.

Why is it when it comes to NCAA College Football, Division I schools get so much national media but Division II and Division III schools do not get as much media attention as NCAA Division I colleges?

Why does NCAA DIvision II and DIvision III Football not get as much attention as Division I Football?
The other divisions don't have as big of football organizations, so they don't specialize in it as much. However, a place like Florida is probably going to have a bigger organization than South Eaat Missouri State. This also leads to better recruiting and higher publicity.
WowWhy does NCAA DIvision II and DIvision III Football not get as much attention as Division I Football?
For the same reason your intramural team isn't getting as much recognition... Not even close to the level of athletic ability. Why do division 1 colleges play in front of 100,000 people and division 2 plays in front of 15,000?
Smaller schools have a more regional fan base and obviously less people went there. The best players also go D1.

I grew up about 20 minutes from Grand Valley and they don't even make the local paper or news until the playoffs start. Sad because they have some very good teams. Why does NCAA DIvision II and DIvision III Football not get as much attention as Division I Football?
because they have big names, better players, and more money
Because of the recruiting class, and the quality of their players.
Because we don't find Division II or III worth watching. I have now asnwered your obvious question. I have blessed you with my knowledge. You may now continue with your existence.
