umm... you could keep it in one sentence but switch the structure around abit?

for example:

After being satisfied that safety checks had been carried out prior to the game, the football association rules out an investigation.



or a similar one which would be:

The football association was satisfied that safety checks had been carried out prior to the game, so they ruled out an investigation.
