What will the final straw be to show football needs video playback?

Regarding Messi's goal yesterday, could be the difference between Barca being knocked out and lifting the CL trophy....

I'm not complaining, I hope Arsenal do knock them out but if it happened to RM I would be livid....

We see these sorts of things constantly in football.....

What will make the football associations finally realise it's needed?

Or are you against it?What will the final straw be to show football needs video playback?
I don't understand how people really know so little about GLOBAL football, everything you said can a 15 years old kid say, it's no big philosophy that video technology would improve the quality of football and it's as simple as it can be to put it in practice... BUT... lets first explain how RULES work, the rules must be the same for everyone under UEFA or FIFA, now clubs with money wouldn't have any problems with video technology because they already have 20 or more cameras on their stadiums but as I said the rules must be the same for EVERYONE. Now lets look at Ukrainian league which is 8th best league in Europe (which means there are 45 leagues worse than them and only 7 better or equal as their), do you really think that a club like PFC Sevastopol with stadium capacity of 3,500 people can afford more than 20 high technology cameras??? Of course they can't and even if they could afford the cameras they wouldn't be able to maintain them, most of stadiums around the Europe have two or three cameras over the whole pitch. We have clubs in UEFA (more than you think) that can't pay a monthly wage of 1000 euros or even less to their players, so even if they want video technology it simply wouldn't be possible from financial point of wiew.

Video technology would work ONLY if UEFA decides to financially FULLY support this ''revolution'', which will never happen so unfortunately we will have to be victims of criminals, that own betting houses and are fixing most of the games today, in the future too.
The only Homo Sapienes still rejecting that idea are none other than the presidents of FIFA and UEFA, the almighty and honourable Blatter and Platini so it's all up to them.

I think the final straw will be like in a very prestigious and competitive match, maybe like CL final or World Cup final, and a player got so furious that when he was supposed to do a throw in, he just threw the ball to Blatter or Platini and it broke their nose AND (this is the key) the ref and his linesmen claimed that they didn't see it and the ref didn't put it in match report.
I guarantee a few hours after that, they'd get video playback as a deadly weapon against that player.

I wish that player would be Rory Delap with the Delapinator. It would break their skull!! But then... No way he'd play in CL final or WC final... Oh well......What will the final straw be to show football needs video playback?
Tell us your ideas of how it would be implemented. I think FIFA are up for it if someone can come up with a fair and consistent way of using it.

It works well in Rugby League and that is because in rugby you have definate start and stop points in a game every 5 - 10 seconds (the tackle) It is easy to go back to this point and say right, video ref, have a look and see if it's a try / he's offside etc.

In football there is far less stoppages so it is difficult to just stop the game every few seconds to go and have a look at the video.

I don't think it will come in for a very long time, if ever for this reason.
Im for it.

Goal line technology should be brought into football, as it is, and has proved worthy in certain decisions, in other sports.

The few minutes per match that a referee would need to get an 'extra opinion' could be added on at the end of the game like stoppages do now. It wouldn't need to be used in every decision!

What will it take for this to be brought in? i honestly don't know, because there have been so many 'wrong calls' in recent years, from league games up to World Cup games, so i have no idea why it hasn't been implemented into the game yet ..... but i think it eventually will be.What will the final straw be to show football needs video playback?
Ermm...If the video replays did exist hen it would have been

Chelsea 6 (Essien 9 ' ,Lampard Pen 27, Lampard Pen 30, Lampard Pen 64, Lampard Pen 78, Lampard Pen 90+3') ---- -Barcelona 1 (Iniesta 90+1')

and

Fletcher wouldn't have been sent off

with video replays

2008-09 final Man.United 2 (Cristiano Ronaldo 57' ,Darren Fletcher 85') bt Chelsea 1 (Drogba 34)
Against it.
As soon as it costs manutd a title... oh wait that wouldnt happen as the refs are already on the take.
