Team GB Football at the 2012 Olympics?

It would appear that there is some sort of disagreement among the football associations in this country as to whether there could ever be a Team GB to play football at the Olympics.

As we a due to host the Games in 2012 shouldn't differences be put aside to allow our national sport to be represented when in our own country! At the very least a team of amateur players from across GB should be formed. There are many organisations and even individuals that could afford sponsor such an endeavour (maybe a highly paid professional footballer that plays for US team!).

Any Thoughts?Team GB Football at the 2012 Olympics?
I was always under the impression that Olympic footballers were amateurs anyway.

I agree with you and the FA should look to the non-league teams in England, Scotland, Wales and possibly Northern Ireland (although the latter have the option of competing for the Republic I believe).

We should have a team in 2012 at least.

This rule should also apply to the other teams and not have the likes of robinho and Kalou playing.

I would quite like to see a Team GB in London 2012, but not comprising of the 'superstar' players. I think it would be much more beneficial for the game to look at young players from the Championship and League One, with only a few players from the Premiership.

The Scottish/Welsh/Northern Irish FA's are not keen on the idea, because any sort of union could spark a joint British FA. This means that whenever any football decisions are made by Fifa, we would only get one vote rather than the four we get now.Team GB Football at the 2012 Olympics?
'Team GB' would be crap anyway, look at England.

England didn't even qualify for euro, all this talk about the players, loving up rooney, where doesn ti get you? NOWHERE.

The team doesn't work, the players are over-rated.

And I live in London.
I think it would be OK, they are talking about getting Fergie to be manager.
