England women's footballers have criticised the Football Association after getting just 拢40 a day for the five weeks at the World Cup in China.
is that enough, while Men get tens of thousands of pounds, Should women be paid more???|||It's all relative. Big star football players make their mega bucks because of the amount of money they generate for their team - if the big name players left Man U, Chelsea etc, the club would make less money which would effect everyone working for the club from cleaners to ground staff etc, wages are based on percentages of what your club makes.
It would be the same with the national sides. England's men matches generate far more income than the women's therefore the women get paid less. It's probably all down to TV rights and how much SKY are prepared to pay for each game, when the England Women generate as much dosh as the men, they'll get improved wages.
Chipmunk proves my point - only 拢2 a ticket for the Arsenal ladies .....|||most of the money in football is generated by the fans either through going to the games or tv rights, as nobody really watches womens football at the moment there isn't much money there for them.
They probably do deserve more but where is the money going to come from unless they carry on improving attendances %26amp; the credibilty of the sport. The money will follow.
Things may change if they carry on doing well which the mens team fails (or at least struggles) to qualify for things!
worto.|||Its not fair, but the Mens game generates much more money for the FA, 拢40 a day isnt bad considering they only played 1 in 3 so they were getting 拢120 for 90 mins of work which in the bigger picture isnt bad earnings.|||they got such a small amount, simply because there is hardly any money in womens football. most people earn more than that in a working wk, i think it should of been higher but then again i think male football players are grossly overpaid as well.|||the women should get paid the same as men .aidan male referee.|||I find women's football quite amusing. It is like watching a group of schoolkids having a kick around. The standard is not very high and women's football does not have a high profile. You do not get 50,000 people going to see Arsenal ladies playing Charlton ladies and in any event why should anyone be paid for representing their country. They should be proud they have been picked in the first place.|||What a waste of time that was.....i watched one of the games in the hope that when someone scored they'd whip their tops off as the men do,,,,but nothing happened.....AND they didn't swap shirts at the end of the game either....
What a blooming let down...I'll never watch then again.|||Definitely not fair some more of the Money earned from the mens side should be used to support the Women's National team for sure, they spend millions of manager for the mens team (usually wastefully)|||I hope that was paid directly to their fellas at home who had to fork out for takeaway whilst not having their dinner cooked for them.|||I think they should, but I also know that the men do more than the woman, because their teams are more 'popular', so the men teams should get more because they play more often.. Some women teams arent even known
*no offence to any women that play in a team*
Think about it, i'm a female and I'm saying this, its what i think as a female =D|||Yes. Definitely. They should get the equivalent of male pay at that level, I would have thought.
However, a lot of male football stars have advertising deals and revenues, so women will obviously have to follow their lead and get advertisers on their side.|||How about we just pay the men less to make it equal. I think athletes are over-paid anyway.|||I didnt know it was on either, but it is unfair|||Chipmunk (above me) - You are living in a fantasy world........ the standard of womens football isnt even that of 4th division football in this country. No point just pretending its good to be politically incorrect.|||Overpaid if you ask me old boy. How many people actually watched it? Tip top.|||ha ha, first answer has it spot on! who actually watched it.... I didn't even know it was on?? ha!
the only good thing is obvious in women football..|||All players men and women should NOT be paid to represent their country, it should be for pride not financial gain. I except that expences should be paid and if some members of the ladies team have full time jobs then they should be reimbursed their daily/weekly wage. but other than that no monies.|||It's not fair at all, they should at least be paid enough to cover what they've lost from time off work if not more. And I thought the article raised a good point about women feeling the pressure to be thin rather than healthy.|||No it's not fair. My husband has taken the kids to see Arsenal ladies a few times. He initially only took them because it was so cheap - something like 拢2 a ticket - and there was no way he could afford to take them to see the men's team. He was sceptical about women's football at first, but after watching them play he was really impressed and said himself that they could give the men a run for their money. Of course until they can generate more interest they'll never make as much money as the men, but 拢40 is just ridiculous!
edit: Not my words dave, that is what my husband (a devout Arsenal fan) told me. I didn't go so can't comment. I don't think he was saying they were as good as the men, but he was very impressed, especially by a couple of particular players.|||nah lets face it, womens football is "pants"
