this question is preferably for people who play/played bath american and association football. if you havent played one of the sports, please at least dont disrespect the other.
note: this is referring to the overall sports and not based on certain positions.
my friend and i were having a debate on whether american football is harder to play than association or not. we both played both sports since we were about 7 or 8. i think american is tougher simply because you have to deal with pads which weighs10- 15 pounds which take the life out of you, especially in the summer when i traps body heat inn 100 degree weather. we did agree that running/ stamina are equal since in american, you need to be all out since we both played special, offensive and defensive teams. but in association, you are constantly running (not always at 100% though). he said association was harder simply because scoring a goal is way more harder than scoring a touchdown or field goal (which is true).
in association, i play winger and defensive midfield. in american, i play free safety, wide receiver, gunner and running back, so the positions matched. and my friend plays center back, and secondary striker in association and running back, linebacker and tight end on american.
so, in the least bias decision, what do you think is harder to play?Which football do you think is harder to play overall?
In reality you can really compare they are built off different skill sets. Nether of them are easy. Yes football players have to wear pads that trap the heat in but a majority of the football season is in the fall when it's not nearly as hot. Soccer players also don't get breaks between each play. It's constant running no breaks.
In a normal regulation game of pro soccer you are only allowed three subs meaning only 3 players get a break.
you cant really compare sports you can only compare teams and leagues within that sport.
if you do want to compare sports somehow, you will need to ask something like, is it easier to make it to the nfl or the premier league? but even then it wouldnt make sense, its just going to go back to peoples opinions on the sport.
answer this question, which is harder, playing in the superbowl or playing a final in the world cup?Which football do you think is harder to play overall?
You are both wrong. Aussie rules players run full pelt for 100 minutes whilst being tackled and getting the hip and shouldar without the benefit of gridiron's sooky padding, also in 30 plus degree heat (to you well over 100). Give it a go and watch yourself agree with me.
NFL is not a real sport, it's just running into other meat heads wearing a body armour and suit.
Don't ever compare it to real football again.Which football do you think is harder to play overall?
Football (soccer) is harder
tough question since Ive played both, but the guy above me gave a good answer.
took the words right out of my mouth ^^^^^^^
In my least biased decision, probably association football is harder, because there is more activity being involved (rather than coming off the bench and coming back on the bench when the offense and defense switch). There are more minutes played, 90 minutes in association, 60 minutes with stoppage in American. You can still get extremely hurt even if it's not a contact sport, like every game I see a bad slide tackle or something along the lines. You need to work with your team a lot in association football on the field, if one man goes down, you will probably lose the game. You must use your entire body to control the ball in association football, even your hands when you throw the ball in or if you're a goalkeeper. It's way way more exhausting, they run at least 10 kilometers per game, that's 6.4 miles, so that's hardcore. Not only they need to be fast, they need to have a lot of coordination since they are controlling a ball with their feet the whole time.
American football is more confined to strength and quickness though. Whoever is stronger or faster on paper will win the battle I believe. If you are quicker to the ball, you will win. But these scenarios are much more important than it is in association football. Playing in pads is more difficult than no pads, but then again, you have more protection, so no debate there (whether american football is wimpier to play or harder to play). American football has timeouts, lots of stoppages, and the no player stays on the field the entire time, so they get to rest alot. However, with this scenario being true, an American Football player needs to give 200% when he's on the field, because even though he's on the bench, he still needs to rely on his team.
In my opinion, Rugby having fewer stoppages and the same amount of contact there is in American Football is more harder than American Football. But seeing that Rugby also has alot of stoppages and they don't use their feet as often as a association footballer does, Association football is much harder than the other two sports.
